The Waning of the Light, or What I'm Doing to Celebrate Midsummer

I'm not a good pagan on this day. It's no secret that I barely tolerate sunshine and heat, so I threw the kids out in the yard with water bottles filled with sweet tea, and sat under the AC (which is set on 70 as I refuse to be hot in my own house, electric bill be damned!) to watch Sleepy Hollow, and reveling in the darkness that is Tim Burton and Johnny Depp. Danny Elfman's score just makes me feel all cozy. It's a Goth version of Beautiful Dreamer.

I have yet to mark the day in any fashion. My plan was to sit before my altar and chant a bit but then the elder child begged for a sleepover. As the friend in question is spending her entire summer out of state I had to say yes and so my own private rite will have to be postponed until tomorrow night at the earliest.

Joyous Litha!

You should be here in central Ontario, it hasn't even reached 70 in about two weeks!!

However, it's rained almost daily. The daytime mosquitoes are loving it, they're as big as robins and travelling vicious gangs (usually they're gone by early June and only come out at dusk).
