You know what bothers the shit out of me? Mudslinging. I have said it before and I will say it again. I support Hillary. I will support Obama if he wins the nomination. But I wish the aspersions of character would stop. We are on the same side here, y'all. I know that you have each spent zillions of dollars to get the votes, but isn't the good of America what we should really be considering here? Yes, it's politics. But I still hate it.
I hate it that no one has a chance to be an elected leader in this country unless they have zillions of dollars to spend. I hate it that when I get emails from Hillary and Obama (I am on both their lists) that they always ask for a contribution. I hate it that they are fighting each other. Hillary isn't a racist. Obama is not a wishy washy guy. Come on, yall.
I am a yellow dog Democrat. Meaning that I will vote for a yellow dog before I will vote for a Republican. Generally speaking, Democrats feel the same way about the issues that are important to me. Primarily, not trying to legalize "morality", and feeding the hungry and clothing the naked. You can call me a bleedin' heart liberal. But these are my core issues.
What Obama and Hillary both agree on is that this country needs some changes. And they are both willing to work to make those changes happen. Why do I support Hillary? Specifically? The number one reason is because she is so left wing that if 1/2 of what is on her wish list is achieved, the US will be a place that more closely mirrors my ideals. We all know about checks and balances. We all know that it takes 3 years of any presidency to get anything working, because of all the red tape. The Confederacy had 6 year Presidential terms. I think that makes good sense. Bush has done so much to make this country OPPOSITE of my ideals, that I would like to see us swing back toward the 21st century. Hillary is forward thinking.
What I really like about Obama is that he is a little green and idealistic. So was Lincoln. I have studied Lincoln more than I have studied any President. I respect him so much that I have a plaque of him on my bookcase in my living room. Nuff said.
So I support them both, but will vote for Hillary in the primaries. In Alabama, the primaries are in June, so by that time it's almost a moot point. I will vote for her all the same. After the votes are tallied, I will give 100% of my support to the Democrat nominee.
But I really wish they would stop fighting amongst themselves.

Agreed.
---I think I"m leaning with the New Hampshire voters who got fed up with the anti-Hillary media and decided to stick it to them.
---Obama is seeming more and more to be a bit of a stuffed shirt. No substance.
---Hillary has disappointed me because of her position on Palestine, which she reversed once she was elected by New Yorkers, who are purely pro-Israel.
---Even so, I think these are dangerous times, and we need a leader who is experienced and tested.
---In any event, I wish the media would discuss the issues for once instead of focusing on shallow and dramatic rhetoric, for the sole purpose of entertaining viewers.
---Jerry Springer style coverage of the 2008 election. Disgusting.
The mudslinging does suck. I'm still undecided. I wish there was someone who had all the best traits of Obama, Hillary, and Edwards. Obama for his hope, Hillary for her experience, Edwards for his honesty. I probably won't make up my mind until I walk up to cast my ballot.
Whatever the outcome, I, like you, will support the nominee.
I'm voting for Hillary for a couple of reasons; I think she's got experience. Not just governor experience, but you know she sat in on a lot of those meetings with Bill & the higher-up muckey-mucks in the White House, so she knows how to get things done while placating all the "good old boys." I also think she's savvy and seems to always be thinking 3 moves ahead. And finally because I'd like to see if a female leader will make a difference in leading our country. I'm not voting for her just because she's a woman, but it's just one more thing I like about her. And I just don't think Obama has enough experience to run a country. (I also don't like that he doesn't put his hand over his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance. Petty maybe, but important to me.)
Amen sister. I agree with all you said. I wish that Hilary and Obama would share - She as president and he as vice president. Wonder if his ego could handle that?
Does anyone else share the concern that while our country has elevated women a tad and may be able to embrace the idea of a woman leader, some of the countries we do "business" with would not respect her position as a result of their own beliefs about women and their positions in society?
