I Heart Boxed Wine

So, I was headed to the grocery store at 7 ish AM yesterday morning. I opened my car door and what did I see? A box of wine in the driver's seat.

Wondering from whence this might have been sent, I thought of my dear friend TDB, but as he lives two hours away, I couldn't imagine that he would have driven so far and not knocked on the freakin' door to hang with us a while.

I thought of my friend Drew. Perhaps her husband had dropped it off on his way to play at the club (he is quite the country music star in this area.)

I texted them. I soon heard back from Drew. My text? "Wine?" Her response? "Sure. When? I could use some wine to go with my whine". No wonder I love her.

TDB responded to tell me that I had apparently been visited by St. Rufus. Now, TDB can talk some smack. That's one of the reasons I enjoy him so much, as I never know what kind of shit he's going to try to pass off as the truth. Who the hell is St. Rufus? He said he was the patron saint of boxed wine and fuzzy dice. And, yes, TDB did indeed drive 2 hours, put a box of wine in my car, then drive 2 hours to go back home again.

I asked him why he didn't come to the door and he said "because it was 10PM and there were no signs of life. It was so dark and quiet and scary at Nestlewood that I ran back to my Jeep so nothing could get me!" I'm not going to call him the "P" word. I swear I'm not.

So, I am going to enjoy this box of wine, which turns out to cost about $100 when one considers the gas utilized to deliver it. I love my friends.

Yes indeed he did! He called me to let me know he was going to do that and asked me if I wanted to go along. Since my phone was dead at the time and I was driving back from Ohio the next day, I didn't get it until after the fact. St. Rufus, he comes through.
