Earliest memory? Boat Harbor with my my parents and aunts and trying to swim like the grown ups. I sank under the water, tried to scream, sucked in water. My daddy, wearing cut off blue jean shorts, his long hippie hair flying, scooped me up from what felt like certain death.

Deep South and Scots are not so far apart in origin you know! They say that the language of Shakespeare is probably closest to the modern Southeastern American Dialect than anything else in English.

I agree with Bruhv on the accent thing. I have been told by two college professors that very same thing, and if you have ever heard a southern accent from around Mobile or Baldwin Co., you will hear English, Scott and French, lovely and soothing to the ears.
