I took 4 kids to the Skate Castle yesterday, 4 kids slept here and there are 5 here now. My right eye is beginning to twitch. It's in the mid 60s today, nice and sunny, so I have thrown their booties outside and dared them to so much as stick their noses in the front door. It isn't working of course. They are simply running in and out.
Tomorrow should be interesting. A week ago today, I told Lina and Huck that they had 7 days to get their rooms clean, which is much more than reasonable, I think. Their rooms are health hazards, though, hence the week. Tonight at bedtime, their week is up, and, so far, not ONE thing has been cleaned. If anything, they are a week dirtier than they were last week. The consequences are that they are grounded from all electronics until their rooms are as clean as they would be if I cleaned them. This means no computer, no TV, no Gameboy, etc... and I mean business. As I said, tomorrow should be interesting.

Ooooh girl. You flirting with hissy fit for sure.
Armor up and let me know how that all works out.
Bless your heart. ;)
yes, good luck. I always regretted such punishments because it meant they would be whining about boredom and such for the duration.
It was a beautiful day today, too. So you should cut them a little slack for that. ;-) Give them until Monday evening.
have fun!
All it took was me coming through with a garbage bag a few times (it went in my closet, not the garbage, though) and now all I have to do is threaten and they start cleaning. lol
Now, mine are only 5 and 2, so if they get the toys out of the floor and mostly where they belong, that's good, for now.
You, on the other hand, might have lost your mind.
My mother just "cleaned" my room for me a few times - half must stuff went missing (and my teenage secretively would not take the blow to my privacy) that pretty much made me keep my room clean.
Oh and finding a mostly dead rat the cat dragged in under some dirty laundry... Unless my mother put it there :-O (;-))
Well, so far, it ain't working so good! Lina has decided that she will accept being grounded until her room is clean. She knew the consequences beforehand and is willing to accept them.
Huck has bitched for the last 3 hours. He's cried. He's said his heart has stopped beating. He's said that there is no way that he can clean this mess. Can I make him list because he doesn't even know where to start?! So I made both of them a list, everything from specific to general "clean under your dresser" to "pick up everything that has the color black in it".
I have brought mean mama out and said that "you might as well hush up the whining and hush up the crying. You can clean it today or tomorrow or every day for the rest of your life. You have had an entire week and this mess is your problem, not mine" (though, clearly, it is my problem, as I have been dealing with the bitching for the past 3 hours.)
