Yes, this is Jim Dale, the Harry Potter books on CD narrator
I LOVE this movie. It's a little Harry Potter, a little Music Man, a little Beverly Hillbillies, a little Annie, Helen Reddy, a drunken Mickey Rooney. Really...what more do you need?
Also, a light house is one of my happy places. Specifically, what we see in Brazzle Dazzle Day (which can be found from this YouTube video), from this movie. I often see myself here, in this very lighthouse with the little cottage tacked on to the side of it.

I went to see this movie at the Princess Theater when I was little. The part where Pete was hiding and being hunted at the beginning of the movie scared the shi*t out of me! I still remember trying to squirm away in my seat...
OMG, Pete's Dragon! I think I saw this in the theatre when it came out, and I KNOW I watched it a million times on HBO. I *adore* this movie-- was a big Helen Reddy fan, back in the day, too.
I've heard that the narrator of the Harry Potter audio books was awesome-- and no wonder, being it's this guy! I always thought he was just delightful in this movie.
I think I must find a copy to watch now.
Ha! Ichabod, I knew you would have something to say about this. I remember how it scared you. :-) I think of you every time I see it.
Turtleheart, if you have never listened to HP on CD you are really missing out! Run, don't walk to your local library and get them!
I just rented this 2 weeks ago and introduced my son to the magic of Pete's Dragon.I wore this video out when I was a youngin. I puffy heart it so. "Cuz it's not easy...."
